Respite Care & Childcare Services

We offer in-home and out of respite care, extraordinary child care, work-related childcare, personal care aide services, and out-of-home placements across Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

The FSCD program works with eligible families to provide support and services based on each child and family’s needs. As an FSCD Vendor, we work with you to help you understand your coverage, facilitate coverage, and answer any questions you have regarding your child’s care.

Respite Care & Support

Respite support is a short period of rest and relief when your family member’s needs will be met, allowing you to use that time for yourself as you choose.

It is important as a caregiver to take care of yourself so that you are able to take care of your child and family. This includes making time to spend with your significant other and friends. Respite is care that allows you to get a much-needed break.

Our respite support is flexible, and you can use this support in a way that best suits your needs. Whether this relief is for a few hours, a day, a weekend, or longer depends on the family’s needs.

We believe that respite care is not a luxury: it is essential for a family’s well-being. It can prevent you from becoming so stressed and fatigued that you can no longer cope as a caregiver or respond to other family members’ needs.

Benefits of Respite Support

Respite has several benefits that can enhance quality of life, including:
  • It gives families time to rest and recharge.
  • It ensures your family member is well supported.
  • It provides social and recreational opportunities for your family member in their local community.
  • It provides flexibility about where and how respite support is delivered.

Personal Care Aide

Out-of-Home Placement

We currently have four supported living environments where people can live 24/7. We work hard to make sure these environments have the same warm and welcoming atmosphere of a family home.

One of our goals for people living in these spaces is to show them that a home can be taken care of by the people living in it despite their upbringing. We want to teach them that pride in ownership is reflected in a well-maintained property.

We also have host homes where caring families welcome people in our programs into their family homes. We do overnights (24-hour respite) in both support homes and our host homes and offer both to families. We work hard to make sure these placements are the right fit for the individual.
